Meatball Recipe for Dogs, Also Great For Licky Mats and Stuffer Toys, the Best Dog Treat is Real Food
A perfect snack for dogs and puppies. The recipe also makes a great licky mat treat, Kong or stuffer toy filling.

Meatball Recipe, Licky Mat or Toy Stuffer Recipe for Puppies and Dogs
Ingredients
- 2 cups (1 lb) ground meat or fish.
- 1 large chicken egg or 1 duck egg or 4 quail eggs, or use the egg substitute just below:
- To make the egg substitute:
- Add 3 tbsp of ground flax and 1 tbsp of water to a small bowl.
- Allow the mixture to sit for 10 to 15 minutes.
- The egg substitute is ready for use.
- 2 tbsp liquid, choose one of the following:
- Raw unpasteurized goat milk.
- Kefir or yogurt.
- Bone broth, or short cooked broth.
- Mushroom broth.
- Water, apple cider vinegar or fresh lemon juice.
- 1/4 cup almond flour or 1/8 cup coconut flour.
- 1/2 cup shredded (grated) cheese - American cheese, cheddar cheese, mozzarella, provolone, or Swiss cheese.
Optional Ingredients
Select from:
- 4 garlic cloves, finally minced.
- Garlic is a self-section item.
- Note - don't include garlic if your dog is less than 6 months of age.
- 1/8 cup dry or fresh chopped: basil, dill, marjoram, or parsley.
- 1/8 cup chopped sun dried tomato.
Preparation
- Mix all ingredients together in a large bowl.
- If your puppy or dog is on a raw diet, choose one of the following options:
- Use a spoon or your hands to form the mixture into round balls or small patties.
- Spoon into ice cube trays and freeze.
- Fill a Kong or other stuffer treat.
- Spread on a licky mat.
- If your puppy or dog is not on a raw diet:
- Add 1 tsp to 1 tbs of grass fed pastured sourced butter or coconut oil to the fry pan.
- Decide how you'd like to prepare and serve the treat:
- Meatballs or patties.
- Fill ice cube trays.
- Fill a Kong or stuffer toy.
- Spread on a licky mat.
- If you've decided to make meatballs or patties:
- Use a spoon or your hands to form the mixture into round balls or small patties.
- Then gently cook the meatballs (or patties).
- Allow to cool.
- The meatballs, patties or mixture is ready to serve, refrigerate or freeze.
- If you've decided to fill ice cube trays, a Kong, stuffer toy or licky mat:
- Gently cook the mixture.
- Allow to cool.
- Fill the ice cube tray, Kong, stiffer toy or licky mat and serve, refrigerate or freeze.
- Refrigerate:
- Raw meatballs, patties or the mixture can be stored in the refrigerator for a maximum of two days.
- Gently cooked meatballs patties or the mixture can be stored in the refrigerator for up to four days.
- Freeze:
- Freeze.
- When needed, take out of the freezer, thaw in the refrigerator.
- Raw thawed - use within 24 hours.
- Gently cooked thawed - use within two to three days.
