1. How Raw Honey Helps Reduce Environmental Allergy, Hay Fever Symptoms in Dogs
If your dog has environmental allergies (hay fever) caused by pollen, locally produced,
unpasteurized raw honey can help reduce allergy symptoms.
When
raw honey is dosed daily, the trace amount of pollen (in raw honey)
gently inoculates your dog's immune system to pollen.
Over-time the immune system stops seeing pollen as a foreign intruder. The immune system stops attacking the pollen. Hay fever (allergy symptoms) become less intense and in some cases completely resolve.
2. When To Start Dosing With Raw Honey
It's important to allow time for the natural inoculation process to build-up prior to the start of hay fever (allergy) season.
For maximum efficacy, dosing (honey), should start at least 6 months prior to onset-of hay fever season.
You
can start dosing at any time, but you'll need to be patient. If you
start just before to or during allergy season, don't expect to see much
to any moderation of symptoms during the first hay fever (allergy) season or part
there-of.
3. What Type of Honey To Use
Do Use
- Raw unpasteurized, pure local honey, produced by bees within a 50 mile (80 km) radius of where you live.
- Typically it's best to choose a wildflower honey
Don't Use
Processed, pasteurized, mass produced commercial honey as it is just sugar. It does not
have the health benefits of locally produced natural honey. Pasteurized honey is NOT good for dogs.
