Use this recipe to naturally discourage fleas, lice, ticks, mosquitoes and other insects. Treat and remedy flea and lice infestations naturally. This recipe is safe for dogs, puppies, cats and kittens.
1.0 What is Neem Oil?
Neem is an evergreen tree native to Bangladesh, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. For thousands of years people's of the Indian subcontinent have used neem tree bark, leaves, seed, and oil as a beauty treatment, medicinal, insecticidal, and crop fertilizer.
Neem oil is a natural plant-based oil made by extracting oil from neem tree fruit. Neem fruit is the neem tree seed kernel (photo above).
The spray, rub and dip recipe below is dog, puppy, cat and kitten safe to help:
- Discourage fleas, lice, mites, ticks, mosquitoes and other insects.
- Treat and remedy flea infestations and lice infestations.
2.0 Neem Recipe - Spray Drip, Rinse, Rub to Discourage Fleas, Lice, Mites, Ticks and Treat Flea, Mite and Lice Infestations
2.1 Recipe
Ingredients
You'll Need
- ½ ounce (15 ml) neem oil - for dogs and medium to large breed puppies.
- 1/4 ounce (7.5 ml) neem oil - for cats, kittens and small breed puppies.
- If you want to make a stronger repellent, dip or rub for dogs, use 1 ounce (30 ml) of neem oil.
- ½ ounce (15 ml) organic glycerin or organic Castile soap.
- 2 cups (0.5 litre) distilled water, warmed-up.
- Mixing bowl.
- Spray
bottle if using as a repellent.
- Basin, sink, kids size pool or bath tub if using as a dip and rinse.
*Organic, cold pressed, unrefined
Preparation
- Pour the glycerin soap and warm water into the bowl, mix well.
- Slowly add the neem oil to the soap and water, mix well.
- The neem treatment is now ready for use.
- Make a new batch of the neem
2.2 How to Use The Neem Oil Treatment
2.2.1 Spray Treatment to Repel Fleas, Mites, Ticks, Lice and Other Insects
Use as a spray applied to your puppy, dog, cat or kittens fur and skin to help discourage fleas, lice, mosquitoes, ticks and other insects.
Instructions for Use:
- Use the spray to lightly cover your animal's fur and skin.
- Make sure you apply the spray to your animal's head, ears (outer ear flap), neck, back, armpits, belly, legs, and paws.
- For the inner ear flap, apply some of the spray to a sift swab, gently wipe around inner ear flap. Don't put in ear canal.
- Avoid getting the spray in your animal's eyes.
- Apply once or twice a day as needed before walks, etc.
2.2.2 Flea Rub Treatment to Resolve a Flea, Lice or Mite Infestation
Use as a rub to kill the fleas, lice, or mites:
Instructions for Use:
- Apply a generous amount of the neem oil treatment to your puppy, dog, cat or kittens fur.
- Thoroughly massage thorough fur and into skin.
- Allow the solution to stay on your animal for 15 to 30 minutes.
- Then rinse off.
- Reapply the neem treatment 1x to 2x per day until the flea infestation or lice infestation is resolved.
2.2.3 Flea Dip Treatment to Resolve a Flea, Lice or Mite Infestation
Use the neem oil treatment as a flea bath (flea dip, lice dip or mite dip), and rinse. You'll need to make enough of the treatment to dip and rinse your animal.
Instructions or Use:
- Place your animal in your sink, basin, kid-size pool or bathtub.
- Pour a generous amount of the neem mixture over your dog, puppy, cat or kitten.
- Thoroughly massage the neem treatment thorough fur and into skin.
- Allow the solution to stay on your animal for 15 to 30 minutes.
- Then use clean water to rinse the neem mixture off of fur and skin.
- Bath and rinse daily until the flea infestation, lice infestation or mite infestation is resolved.
2.3 Optional Step - Rosemary Rinse
Rosemary helps repel and kill fleas and lice. After you've rinsed the neem solution off your animal, use the rosemary recipe as second rinse.

2.4 Optional Step - Soothing Herbal Rinse for Flea Skin Allergy Symptoms
If your puppy, dog, cat or kitten experiences flea, lice or mite skin allergy symptoms, after the neem treatment to a simple soothing herbal rinse.

3.0 Cautions
3.1 When Applying the Neem Treatment to Your Dog or Cat's Face:
- Put a small amount of the neem solution in the palm of your hand.
- Then rub
your hands gently over your animal's nose, top of the head, behind the ears,
etc.
